These short term programs are focused on an extended stay with one of our partner communities. In this case, coursework is tied directly to a grassroots development project, in which we work together with local counterparts. By living with one community, participants have a chance to really get to know their local counterparts and grow together. Our projects must be proposed by the community and fulfill real objectives. The community-based experience can be carried out as part of a Home School Faculty-led experience or a Pachaysana-led experience. In most cases, we focus on the Amazon region or Quito and its surrounding areas; however, we also maintain partnerships in other parts of the country and can arrange for visits in the central highlands and coast.

Students stay with host families and become part of the community

We engage in all kinds of local activities together, here preparing new foods as a collective.

Let us know you want information on a short-term program, and we will get back to you.
