El Vuelo del Curiquingue

Theatre as Conflict Transformation

Over a period of 6 months, Pachaysana teamed up with its partner institution Quito Eterno to create this interactive theatrical experience. Our goal was to devise a play that explores current social conflicts that are products of our cultural history. The play is a version of Magic Realism, where an everday heroine crosses paths with magical and historical Ecuadorian characters in a journey that pieces together scenes of her historical self. The end of the play requires audience participation.

Quito Eterno now offers this play as part of its educational programming in high schools.
