re-imagining learning communities in times of social distancing
The current public health crisis has disrupted our ways of being, exposing deep cracks in our institutions-- including in the world of higher education. Pachaysana sees these disruptions as valuable opportunities to continue re-imagining education. In 2020, as most universities transitioned to hybrid or entirely online programming, their goal was to return to an old “normal” as quickly as possible. We, on the other hand, began to challenge ourselves, and others, to take advantage of this moment to revolutionize education. Instead of trying to fix the cracks in the system, we began planting seeds in the cracks that will grow into a more critical, just, and creative way of teaching and learning.
In this spirit, Pachaysana is offering two exciting online options for FALL 2021 as our way of contributing to the radical dreaming, creating, and healing these times demand from us: our virtual community-engaged (study abroad) program, "From the Cracks," and our online workshops and webinars, ideal for class interventions, program development and staff/faculty training. Our online programming has been been recognized as a finalist in GoAbroad’s Innovation in Online Programming awards.
