WELCOME! We are excited that you are applying for Rehearsing Change!
Before proceeding, please read this introduction carefully and be sure you have all the necessary documents ready to upload in the final section, including your essay.
What to expect in this application:
Page 2 asks for your basic personal information (name, area of studies, contact information, emergency contact information, etc).
Page 3 asks for you to recognize the core elements of our participant agreement.
Page 4 walks you through the letter of recommendation process.
Page 5 asks you to upload three documents and digitally sign this application
If you have all the documents ready to upload, as well as the names and contact information for your references, the application should take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete.
Key Points of Understanding:
Rehearsing Change has limited space available. We recommend sending in your application as early as possible. We accept most students via our early-acceptance program (see due dates on Page 5).
Rehearsing Change requires at least an “intermediate” level of Spanish, which usually means the student has completed 3 or more semesters of college-level Spanish. If you do not have 3 semesters of college-level Spanish, please inquire about equivalencies or you can elect to participate in a Spanish proficiency video call.
All applicants will participate in a virtual interview with one or more of our team members in the two weeks following each application due date.
Pachaysana’s School of Record is Juniata College from which students receive official transcripts. Each student should speak with their study abroad office to assure that Rehearsing Change/Juniata College credits will transfer to your institution. It is possible that your institution requires a petition for you to participate in our program. It is also possible that your institution does not require a transcript from Juniata College to earn credit from the program because they accept Pachaysana-emitted course reports. If you are unsure about how credit is accepted at your school, feel free to write us at info@rehearsingchange.org
An application is considered complete upon receipt of this form and the following documentation. You will need to upload what is in bold, so be sure to have them ready:
- A written essay (750 to 1500 words in a DOC or PDF format) explaining why you want to study with Rehearsing Change. You may write in English or Spanish, but please include what we share below*
- Copies of all university-level transcripts (official or unofficial).
- Copy of your Passport photo page (Please make sure it isn't blurry).
- 2 or 3 letters of recommendation (to be sent to us via email directly from your references). We provide instructions on Page 4 where you will need to insert their names, titles and email addresses.
*What to include in your essay:
A brief personal history and how that relates to Rehearsing Change.
A brief educational history, highlighting experiences that have prepared you for Rehearsing Change.
Personal and educational goals. What do you want to learn during the semester
Your experiences in dealing with cultural and/or social differences.
What is unique about you? What can you (or do you want to) contribute to the cohort?
In summary, we want to hear your story and how it relates to your educational experiences so far. How do you envision Rehearsing Change being part of this story and how will you be part of Rehearsing Change’s story? This is not an academic exercise. Be honest, be creative and have fun!
NOTE: Instead of an essay, students may elect to create a video that explores the same prompts or participate in a video conference call with a Pachaysana team member. Please write to us at info@rehearsingchange.org to select one of these options.
